II's open up lead at top of Div 3 with emphatic win over local rivals Kelvedon
The twos have made a fantastic start to the year, as they increased their lead at the top of divsion 3 with a solid win against Kelvedon and Feering. With Robert Cross, Shaun Bragg (both promoted to I's) and Lloyd Edwards all missing from Coggy's line-up, there were mumours in the changing room that they may short of bowling. Kelvedon batted first but in truth their innings nver really got going. New boy Jason Pembroke bowled with control and consistancy and deserved his three wickets. The wickets were shared around, and alongside some good fielding Kelvedon closed on just 114. After tea Coggy set off cautiously. Debutant Craig applied himself well and scored a steady 60 not out. At the other end Paul Harris fell for 14. That left Darren Green to support Craig, a role which he played well, finishing on 40 not out. Green has slotted into the team well, consiatntly scoring runs, a job Craig will now look to do in coming weeks.
With a few changes to the side the II's adjusted superbly and look strong contenders to take the division three title. Selection will no doubt become an even bigger problem for both II's skipper Paul Harris and I's leader Jimmy Ree's as between the two sides only fpur points have been dropped in ten games. The II's are now the only undefeated side in Div 3 as Witham fell to Lakenheath and Mildenhall just edged past Worlington. This weeks fixture between Witham and Coggeshall twos at the Harefield is a mouth watering one that Paul will no doubt ensure his boys remain focused for. The game starts at 1pm, Saturday at the Hamlet.
