1sts make it six in six as they thump Woolpit

Coggy 1's continued their emphatic start to the 2010 season with a good win against Woolpit. Batting first, 18 year old Robert Jagger crafted a fine maiden 1st team century as the runs flowed from ball one. Jagger took 116 balls to reach three figures as he hit the Woolpit attack to all corners of the picturesque ground. Form batsmen Ollie Blackwell supported superbly, falling in the nineties for the second time this year for 98. His runs this year have been a key to the high totals Coggy have accumalated in their opening games and he dosen't look in any mood to slow down. The two put on near two hundred and that allowed the other batsmen to come in and add quick runs in the last ten overs, something they have done well this year. Knowing that their two scores at Harefield had totalled over 500 runs, Cogg knew they could not afford to ease off in the closing overs. Some big hitting from the middle order brought the total to 304-7.

Coggeshall knew that they would hve to bowl well despite posting a high score. The wicket at Harefield was unsuprsingly firm and true. Woolpit applied themselves well but were always short of the required rate and their chase eventually subside for 206-7. Wickets were shared around as Coggeshall bowled and fielded adequately enough to ensure Woolpit could never get close to the required total. Centurion Bert Jagger picked up two wickets with his looping leg-spinners to cap a fine personal performance he won't forget any time soon.

The harshest of critics may point out that it was the first time the I's have dropped points in their opening six games, however as the only undefeated team in Division 1 captain Jimmy Ree's and his boys are delighted with the start they have made.

The I's make their way to fourth placed Abberton and District expecting a tough contest as they look to extend their 100% start.
